La Vista Memorial Park & Mortuary - 11th Annual Memorial Day Celebration
La Vista Memorial Park and Mortuary, one of the San Diego’s oldest and most historic cemeteries, will host its annual Memorial Day ceremonies Monday, May 29th, at 1 p.m. at its picturesque hilltop setting located at 3191 Orange St., in National City.
The keynote speakers will be John “Mac” McLaughlin, President & CEO, USS Midway Museum, Petty Officer Bethany N. Little-Moses (Surface Warfare / Aviation Warfare) USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) Among the attendees living Pearl Harbor survivors and family.
The observance will also include a presentation of the Navy’s symbolic “Two-Bell Ceremony,” honoring war dead by Pearl Harbor Survivor Carnation Chapter 3 & dating back to World War I, The Missing Man Memorial Fly-By provided by a group of pilots.
In attendance we also expect, the 82nd Airborne Division San Diego Chapter who will present full military honors and the parading of the colors will be done by USS ESSEX (LHD 2).
Over the years, La Vista’s Memorial Day activities have evolved into a community-wide event supported enthusiastically with a symbol of spirit by public officials rolling up their sleeves to serve the lunch in what has become an important component of La Vista’s Memorial Day tradition that draws visitors from all over San Diego County and the South Bay.
